Vacationing With Other Couples

When most of us think about vacation, we probably think about going somewhere fun with our significant other. If we don't have a significant other, maybe it's with our family or friends. But when you're married or in a relationship, it can be great to take an adult vacation with several other couples. The exact number is up to you, but anywhere from one to three other couples seems to be a good number. Depending on what you're going to do during your vacation you can choose to bring kids along or not, but either way it's fun to have others around to join in the fun. Of course, if you do bring kids along, you get the added bonus of built-in babysitters. If one couple wants to go out, the others can watch their children. What a great concept!

The most important thing about making this method work is selecting the right couples. If you go with someone that you won't get along with, it turns a potentially relaxing vacation into an exhausting one. There might be a personality conflict, or some couples might not be as clean as others. Whatever the case, you only get a chance to take all inclusive holidays every once in awhile. Don't waste one with a couple that you know you won't get along with over the course of a weekend, long weekend, or week. Instead, try to select friends that you have a history with. Maybe you've roomed with a friend in college or have stayed at a couple's house one weekend. It's these sorts of things that can give you a feel for how they would be on vacation.

The other thing you might want to consider is what sort of interests the other couples have. If you know a couple that you get along with pretty well but all they want to do on vacation is parasail and bungee jump, they may or may not be a good fit for you. If you like the same things, great! But if your all inclusive travel plans include nothing more than a beach, a book, and a drink, then you might want to pick different vacation partners. While you don't need to do everything together on your vacation, you're also going with each other for a reason. Find someone with similar interests, and plan your vacation today!
