What is it that keeps us from going?
Why do some people seem to make it happen, no matter what their income is and others just don't seem to be able to get away.
Here are 7 tips for those who would love to go but don't seem to be able to get it done:
1. Commit to set aside a certain amount every month as part of your budget. Put it in an envelope, in a separate account or at least in a place where you cannot get to it too easily.
2. Do not wait till the end of the month to do this. There is hardly ever anything left if you do that. Set it aside right after you get your check, tithe, save and pay your mortgage. Budget it in and stick to it.
3. Plan long in advance. The longer in advance you book, the better the price. Besides that, than you are committed and will do whatever it takes to go. (But make sure you have cancellation insurance in case of an emergency.)
4. You don't have to go to far the first time. Keep it reachable and within your budget.
5. If necessary, plan 2 years in advance. The first year you can do a 'stay-cation' where you will do short one- or two-day trips close to home. That allows you to have a taste of vacation while saving up for an away-from-home vacation the year after.
6. Think about what you can do to speed up the process. Should you find a part-time job? Or maybe you could work part-time from home? There are many possibilities that are attainable and will help you even pay off some of those bills!
7. Last but not least; you could even have your own travel website where you can save earn a commission on your own bookings or even earn commissions on other people's vacation bookings. Think about it...earning some money while vacationing? Hmmm...
We all need a vacation every now and then. Think about how you can make it happen for you and your family. Your children will cherish those memories forever!
