Hilarious Road Trip Stories

I have heard so many people mentioning of going on an excursion but very few people actually take the time and effort to go on a road trip. Most people I have met end up with almost the same excuse "I am short of time" or "Ya... Maybe some other time" In this article I have tried to cover some of the most unique experiences shared by people who actually have taken that step to go ahead on that much dreamed road trip.

A college group decided to go to Konkan via road in their Santro from Mumbai. They were all very excited as they were on their way to Konkan for the very first time and that too in the monsoons. After crossing Kumbharli Ghat on their way to Chiplun they came across a slope and decided not to waste fuel so went on neutral with the engine on and were very happy on achieving 12kms of descent distance in neutral gear; only to realise later that the engine suddenly went off with the center lock on. They were petrified as they were in the middle of nowhere on a rainy day trapped in a car. Fortunately after switching on the engine after a while the car started. I hope you have learnt something when you plan to go on any road trip.

There was this other instance that happened on a road trip from Bangalore to Goa. The route that they had taken was from Bangalore to Honnavara to Panaji and return back to Bangalore. The worst thing that happened in their journey was their music system went off and they could not get it started. After hours of travelling, talking and munching food they had got bored. If you think this is not a worse scenario for them you need to read further on what happened. As soon as they reached a hill top in Jog their car which was performing good burst a tyre. As they started cribbing out it they looked around and saw beautiful scenery with waterfalls and all of a sudden each one was smiling. The thought that went through their head was only "Wow, what a beautiful experience!" They spend 30 mins just looking at this amazing panaroma. Those 30 mins was a rejuvenating experience where they forgot all their worries, a complete stress buster in short.

The most significant, magnificent and adventurous destination in India is Leh Ladakh. Here is an experience of 4 Delhi guys who decided to go on a road trip to Leh from Manali. These guys had been here during the holiday season. They did experience the snow-capped mountains in Rohtang Pass and Tanglangla Pass. On their way up to the peak of the hill they made a snow man and also threw snow balls at each other. Though the uphill walk was a tough bet after managing to reach the peak of the mountain they looked down and were amazed to see the panaroma. Though the fog and mist covered most of their view; it didn't matter as they had never experienced this before.

I am sure when you read this article you will realise there is so much beauty and serenity in the world and how long we have been missing it.

Here is a check list you may use for your road trip:

• Check your car condition by checking the belts and fluids and make sure that the tires are inflated to the proper pressure.
• Check if you have enough fuel in the tank before you start your journey.
• Know the road and weather conditions that you are bound to face on your route.
• Check for alternative routes in case of major traffic jams or accidents.
• Have a photo identification proof, some cash and carry water at all times in your trip.

People have asked me what my motive is behind this article. I ask them "Have they ever gone on a Road Trip?" I believe the motive is simply targeting those people who have been thinking on any road trip for so many years, a small hope that they might actually pack their bags and get set for a memorable experience of a lifetime.
