Parga - Place For Total Relaxation

Holidays in Parga, located in the northwestern coast of Greece, offers traditional hushed villages, a green fertile core full of olive groves, deserted beaches, citrus plantations, birdlife and striking mountains. Even though the place is dominated by tourists and guests, tourism has not overly affected the traditional way of life of the locals. Holidays in the Parga region enjoy something of a laid-back Greek island atmosphere. Parga holiday resorts offer relaxing cafes, quiet and calm taverns, a few classy bars and a traditional nightclub. Nightlife in the Parga region is most probably a quiet meal in an distinctive waterfront tavern. All the Parga region holiday villages provide an attractive base for exploring the beautiful beaches and green lush mountainous interior of the Parga area which is known as Epirus.

Parga, without any questions is the most striking resort on the mainland Greece with its overwhelming, red-roofed village houses surrounding the scenic harbor. It is situated in a small bay.

Its narrow, flagstone alleys are brightly colored houses and with stylish bougainvillea and fragrant jasmine. If you want to have a more exciting and more adventurous holiday, Epirus is easily accessible along with ferry trips to Paxos. Parga is also an ideal base for short trips to the surrounding villages of Aghia, Anthoussa and Trkastro, which are hanging on plateau above the fertile, steep countryside.

Parga beaches are on the relatively undeveloped Epirus coast of north-west Greece and are served by the airport at Preveza which is around 50 miles away from most Parga beach resorts. Parga beaches are excellent and free of the big crowds. Holidays in Parga offer many more tiny secluded bays which can be reached by water taxi, a novel and very pleasant way of getting around in the Parga region. Small islands and beaches can be reached by little boats or ferries, and you will surely experience privacy. Parga holidays normally offer watersports like waterskiing and windsurfing. Parga beaches provide exceptional conditions for snorkelling. Holidays in the Parga region offer dozens of worthwhile excursions which include the historic lakeside town of Ioannina, the Dodoni amphitheatre, the Perama caves, the resort of Lefkas and boat trips to the islands of Paxos, Anti Paxos and even Corfu. Buses run to local traditional villages like Agia and Anthoussa.

It is sometimes referred as a small town on the mainland with an island-feeling to it. That description is more likely fitted. The town also preserved its genuine Greek culture. You get a chance to taste the real Greek food at most places, not the tourist version, and people are just very nice and accommodating. There are as many Greek tourists as people from elsewhere in the world. Winter time Parga has about 2.500 inhabitants. During tourist-season which is the summer season, these numbers are doubled.

With the nice town, the harbor, the nearby beaches and its unique blend of local delicacies, Parga is worth your visit. It is a quiet and relaxing place. This place is for those who wants to relax, not to people who want to get loose and do crazy things.
